AMORIS LAETITIA: UM DIVISOR DE ÁGUAS NA DOUTRINA DA SACRAMENTALIDADE DO MATRIMÔNIO?

Resumo

O presente artigo indaga se a exortação apostólica Amoris laetitia representa ou não uma mudança na doutrina tradicional da Igreja sobre o sacramento do matrimônio. Limita-se, assim, à discussão teológica a respeito da exortação, ignorando o debate pastoral em torno da mesma. Postula-se uma mudança significativa no ensinamento do Papa Francisco, na medida em que atribui ao amor conjugal um caráter de sacramentalidade muito mais fundamental do que os seus predecessores o fizeram. Os capítulos quarto e quinto do texto marcam essa mudança no discurso papal e ocupam o centro da presente análise. Não obstante se constate uma certa relutância da parte do Papa em definir a questão central que se postula neste estudo, a saber, a sacramentalidade do amor conjugal, a exortação oferece evidências para um possível desenvolvimento na doutrina sacramental do matrimônio.

Amoris Laetitia: A Watershed In The Doctrine Of The Sacramentality Of Marriage?

Abstract: The present article inquires whether or not the apostolic exhortation Amoris laetitia represents a change in the traditional doctrine of the Church on the sacrament of marriage. Thus, it limits itself to the theological discussion on the exhortation, thereby disregarding the pastoral debate around it. The hypothesis is that there is a significant change in Pope Francis’ teaching, inasmuch as he ascribes marital love a much more fundamental character of sacramentality than his predecessors did. Chapters four and five of the text reflect such change in papal discourse and are at the core of the present analysis. Although one can verify a certain reluctance on the part of the Pope in terms of defining the central question that is postulated in this study, the exhortation provides evidence for such a further development in the sacramental doctrine of marriage.
