KARL POPPER: O PROBLEMA DA INDUÇÃO E A FALSEABILIDADE COMO CRITÉRIO DE DEMARCAÇÃO

Resumo

O presente artigo pretende abordar o problema da indução e a falseabilidade como critério de demarcação em Karl Popper. Inicialmente, de acordo com análise popperiana apresentada, sobretudo, na obra A lógica da Pesquisa Científica, examina-se o método indutivo utilizado pelas ciências empíricas. Neste trecho, a referência incide, principalmente, sobre o Círculo de Viena, pois, segundo Popper, o modelo científico do grupo expressa muito bem as pretensões do método indutivo. Na sequência, analisa-se a crítica popperiana à indução, bem como às ciências empíricas que usam a indução como método científico, estabelecendo sobre a base empírica (indutivamente verificada) o seu critério científico de demarcação. Considerando o fracasso lógico e balizador do método indutivo, por fim, apresenta-se a proposta popperiana da falseabilidade como critério de demarcação, articulando-a com o método dedutivo de investigação científica.

KARL POPPER: THE PROBLEM OF INDUCTION AND FALSIFIABILITY AS THE CRITERION OF DEMARCATION

Abstrac: This article seeks to address the problem of induction and falsifiability criterion of demarcation in Karl Popper. First of all, according to Popperian analysis presented, especially in the work The logic of Scientific Discovery, examines the inductive method used by the empirical sciences. In this section, the reference focuses mainly on the Vienna Circle, because, according to Popper, the scientific model of this group expresses very well the claims of the inductive method. Next we analyze the Popperian critical to induction, as well as the empirical sciences that use induction as a scientific method, setting about the empirical basis (inductively verified) its scientific criterion of demarcation. Considering the logical failure of the inductive method, in conclusion is introduced Popper's falsifiability proposal, as a criterion of demarcation, linking it with the deductive method of scientific research.
