PALAVRA DE DEUS NA VIDA E NA MISSÃO DA IGREJA : Estudo dos documentos oficiais desde o Concílio de Trento até o Sínodo dos Bispos em 2008

Resumo

Uma das definições do Concílio de Trento foi a retirada da Bíblia das mãos do povo. Ela foi substituída pelo Catecismo Romano. O magistério da Igreja voltou a defender a Bíblia, apenas 329 anos depois, diante dos ataques dos racionalistas e de certos filósofos, através da Carta Encíclica Providentissimus Deus de Leão XIII. O papa Pio XII, através da Carta Encíclica Divino Afflante Spiritu, incentivou o uso da Bíblia e pediu que ela fosse relacionada com os resultados das escavações arqueológicas. Após 400 anos, a Bíblia voltou às mãos do povo, através da Constituição Dogmática Dei Verbum do Concílio Vaticano II. Uma das lacunas entre a Dei Verbum e a Verbum Domini, a Exortação Apostólica do papa Bento XVI, é a redução da Palavra de Deus à Bíblia. Daí a necessidade de aprofundar a analogia da Palavra de Deus. O desafio da Verbum Domini é a leitura fundamentalista da Bíblia.

Abstract: One of the determinations from the Council of Trent was the withdrawal of the Bible from the hands of the people. It was replaced by the Roman Catechism. The Church’s magisterium came to defend the Bible, only 329 years later, in Pope Leo XIII’s Encyclical, Providentissimus Deus in response to modern rationalistic and philosophical attacks. Pope Pius XII, through the Encyclical Divino Afflante Spiritu, encouraged the use of the Bible and asked that it be interpreted in light of recent archaeological findings. After 400 years, the Bible was placed back into the hands of the people through the Dogmatic Constitution of Vatican II, Dei Verbu”. One of the unfinished issues left since the documents Dei Verbum and the Apostolic Exhortation of Pope Benedict XVI, Verbum Domini, has been the reduction of the concept ‘Word of God’ to the Bible’s written text. Hence the need for deepening the analogy of God’s Word. The challenge of Verbum Domini is directed at a fundamentalist reading of the Bible. The Brazilian people were Christianized, with the explicit use of the Bible, only the last forty years.
